The plush, velvety, heavy look and feel of them is perfect to block out the light, Keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer... best curtains ever- we have 5 panels and wouldn't change them for anything.

They did what we wanted. Look nice in a small area behind TV. Definitely no light showing through but window in patio area so not sure what would do if had direct sunlight.

In was very impressed at how well these blocked the light! No light gets through the curtains, so as long as they are larger and longer than your windows the room will be extremely dark.

100 percent effective. they totally blackout the room for effective t.v. watching but also severely reduce the amount of heat let in thru the sliding glass doors. easy to assemble and install. dark velvet on front white on the back to reflect sunlight. and they look good too.not real heavy at all. fyi CURTAINS ONLY does not come with hanging rod.

Read LOTS of reviews (including price only includes 1 panel)... Invested the extra few dollars and SO happy with the results. Any smell or creasing went away quickly. This look expensive. Darken out the BRIGHT (also hot) sunlight from coming in our living room. I couldn't be happier (unless 2 panels came in each package). I definietly would recommend

I have a 10 feet wide window(with blinds) in my Media room (facing North). With a lot of ambient light even with the blinds, my powerful Epson 5020 projector was not able to cope up. Did a lot of research in store and on-line. Wasn't sure if they were dark enough for my room. Anyways, ordered 3 of them. I had to iron them before using. Right out of the packaging, they looked promising. Sure enough when I covered the window, the room went into total darkness!! I am enjoying my media room a lot more now. It helps with A/C as well. They are thick velvet and white lining on the back. Nothing to go wrong here.

These are great panels - only reason I gave them a 4 is because the color is not as gray as it shows in the picture. They are blue-er in person but still overall wonderful purchase.

I bought them for my bedroom window that gets the early morning sun. I got them in Cafe which blocks out all the light and keeps the room cool. They're a good sound barrier too, can't hear the awful neighborhood barking dogs! I'm buying another pair for my guest bedroom.

I am very pleased with these curtains, especially considering all the less-than-stellar reviews I've seen for various other black out curtains. I have an east-facing window that lets in a ridiculous amount of sunlight in the morning, so I desperately needed something to block it out. These curtains do a wonderful job; they don't let ANY light in through the fabric. In fact the only light that gets in the room is the tiny bit that seeps through the tiny space between the wall and the curtain rod. They also seem to muffle sound and trap heat. This will probably be a good thing in the winter, but in the summer it's been a bit of an annoyance as the room heats up a lot. However this is a decent price to pay if it means I can actually stay asleep between dawn and when my alarm clock goes off. If you're looking for curtains that actually block all light, this is it.

You may not think so, but you cannot sleep your best sleep in a room with (even very little) light. You may be unconscious, you may think that you are sleeping well - but your brain is perceiving the light, it is preparing you to wake, and it is lowering the quality of your sleep. At night, it was the security lights from the parking lot across the way, and in the morning it was sunlight. And I am in a room with Northern exposure - so its not like we are talking about direct sunlight here.

It only occurred to me because I always get THE BEST sleep in hotels - and that is because ever room I have ever stayed in has darkening shades. So I just followed the impulse to get a tension rod and darkening shades to hang behind my vertical blinds.

These are not the cheapest, but they are the best. I would recommend going a bit longer than you think you need because light can easily shine down at an angle through the bottom.

I was hoping that these would have the thick, white vinyl backing like hotel shades do - but they do not.

Having said that, these shades made the room PITCH BLACK. I have two panels and I clipped them together in the middle and just arranged them nicely against the left and right sides. I suppose that I could add velcro fasteners to the walls for a tight seal around the window frame, but it doesn't seem necessary.

Ever since I installed these, I have been experiencing wonderful, restful, rejuvenating sleep and I could not be more thrilled with this purchase! This may not address your personal sleeping issues, but it did mine!

A little gets in around the edges of the curtains, sure. Unless you secure the edges flush with the wall in some manner you will have a small amount of light entry.

As a daytime sleeper with an eastern facing window I have found that when I wake up in the afternoon, I don't know whether I slept 6 or 16 hours.

Once the sun gets off my window directly, there is no light that enters my window. I used two panels on my 36 inch window.

Decided to order these after trying out a different brand that I got from Bed Bath and Beyond. Those only blocked maybe 50% of the light at most. Searched around online and came across these. These things truly do block ALL light from getting through. I also got a certain kind of curtain rod that wraps around on the ends to that you can get these panels right up against the wall to block the light on the sides as well. I just toss a sheet or blanket on top to block the light at the top. I bought two of these to cover a 6 foot wide sliding glass door and they fit perfectly after raising the rod up a few inches from the previous curtains so that only one or two inches are on the ground to block light at the bottom. I got the 95 version so that the panels went all the way to the bottom because the 84 was a few inches too short and had light reflecting off the tiles on the floor. It blacks out the living room so that I can watch movies during the day when I want to.

Working 3rd shift causes many problems, these curtains completely solved one of them... Sleeping much better now. Though they do look like cheep, fake velvet.

Nice curtains especially for the price. Not quite has substantial as I expected but that is largely my fault for being relatively uninformed.

Just needed some simple curtains to keep the cold and light out and these did the trick. They look great.

These really do blackout! No light gets through these babies. I have them in the dark brown color. I bought three of them for our 107 window that is directly opposite our large flat screen tv in the media/family room. I was worried when I saw the velvet description that they would look super dated and heavy looking. NOT SO! They look great, it's more of a suede fabric, not a heavy velvet. Don't get me wrong, these are heavy curtains and not light breezy summer curtains. But you just can't get black out curtains in light weight summery fabric. And my home is very much about bold contrast and clean looks. These fit right in.

CON - You are going to HAVE to iron these. And they don't iron easily. They came out of the package with super super heavy folding lines. I kinda expected that. However, I didn't expect to have to spend like 2 to 3 hours ironing them and then them still have the out of package look.. but less obvious? After they have been hanging for a couple weeks they are beginning to hang out and gradually look less like they were in a package.

I'm very happy with them, even with the ironing. (I hate ironing) They keep out light fabulously and they look great.

There was one thing that kinda bugs me though. One of the curtains at one bottom end of it rises up .. like.. it's slightly shorter than the other side. As they are hanging out it's getting better, but being anal-retentive I notice it. The other two curtains were just fine. I decided not to deal with returning that one curtain, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been a big deal.

These are great! They blockout light and noise. My suggestion would be to buy a curtain rod that hangs close to the wall as mine is about 3 inches away so light still comes in above them but it's a huge improvement from no curtains!

I purchased these panels for interior doorways between a game room and another room containing mechanical equipment. The panels had to be black, durable, look nice, as well as block light and sound between the rooms. NOTE: The lining on the back of these panels is white.
