2019-11-07

More than half of the top 20 bathroom photos trending on Houzz feature at least one prominent black design element. Whether it’s found in the tile, grout, light fixtures or hardware, shades of ebony are making a bold statement in the most popular bathroom photos added to Houzz from April through June this year, as measured by the number of people who’ve saved them to their ideabooks during that period.
Black, white and bold. The most common color palette in the top bathroom photos is easily black and white. Whether the bathroom is traditional, modern or somewhere in between, black and white seems to be grabbing Houzzers’ attention.

Dark grout. Again we see a black-and-white color palette on display in this trending Vancouver bathroom created by Mango Design. While brass fixtures and a kilim rug add some color, note the black-and-white shower curtain and black grout with the white penny floor tiles.

Oil-rubbed bronze. More than a few of the top bathroom photos feature oil-rubbed bronze fixtures. The dark finish looks mostly black with hints of brassy undertones peeking through. This Atlanta guest bathroom features oil-rubbed bronze sink and shower fixtures from Moen’s Kingsley collection.

Matte black. While oil-rubbed bronze works well in traditional and transitional bathrooms, matte black fixtures and hardware, such as the items found in this trending bathroom designed by Siren Spaces, work best in modern loos.

Farmhouse noir. Farmhouse-inspired vanities were another popular look in the top bathroom photos, especially those with dark hardware, as seen here in Denver. Oil-rubbed bronze fixtures are again making a splash.
